The American Junior Golf Association will come to Phoenix in Baltimore County to host the UHY / The First Tee of Greater Baltimore Junior Championship.

Hillendale Country Club will host the 54-hole national junior golf tournament, August 12-15, 2019. The field will consist of 96 boys and girls (ages 12-19) from around the world.

This is UHY’s first year as an Official Partner of the AJGA and the second year sponsoring an event on the AJGA schedule. UHY will serve as the title or presenting sponsor of seven AJGA junior championships annually, helping bring events like the UHY / The First Tee of Greater Baltimore Junior Championship to Baltimore County.

In conjunction with its Official Partnership, UHY has expanded its UHY Prep Series and will conduct a dozen junior tournaments annually to grant exemptions to the AJGA junior championships for which UHY serves as title or presenting sponsor.

The tournament field at the UHY / The First Tee of Greater Baltimore Junior Championship will feature 17 players who have committed to play college golf. There are also three former AJGA Champions in the field with Kuangyu (Tony) Chen of (Australia) Shenzhen, China, Victoria Tip-Aucha of Vienna, Virginia, and Borina Sutikto of Fremont, California. In addition, 17 states are represented, with 21 players from Maryland competing in the event.

The American Junior Golf Association is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to the overall growth and development of young men and women who aspire to earn college golf scholarships through competitive junior golf. AJGA alumni include Rickie Fowler, Sergio Garcia, Dustin Johnson, Phil Mickelson, Patrick Reed, Jordan Spieth, Justin Thomas, Tiger Woods, Paula Creamer, Ariya Jutanugarn, Cristie Kerr, Stacy Lewis, Brittany Lincicome, Anna Nordqvist, Inbee Park and Lexi Thompson.

The tournament begins like a PGA TOUR or LPGA Tour event with an 18-hole AJGA Qualifying Tournament held on Monday before the event. This gives players the opportunity to “play their way in” to the main tournament. Monday will also feature the official practice round. The tournament will begin Tuesday with the first round and run through Thursday. An awards ceremony will follow the final round Thursday afternoon.

The event is free and open to the public. Spectators are encouraged to attend the event and see the next generation of PGA TOUR and LPGA Tour stars. Hillendale Country Club is located at 13700 Blenheim Rd. in Phoenix, Maryland.
