Eastern Tech had a strong showing at the Eastside Last Chance meet last week at Dundalk High, with the Maverick boys finishing fourth overall and the girls placing fifth.

Dundalk won the boys team title over Perry Hall, 130-107, followed by Eastern Tech with 82 points.

Kenwood placed 10th with 16 points, while Chesapeake tied for 11th with Sparrows Point, each with 11 points.

In the girls’ meet, Sparrows Point edged Patapsco for the team title, 72-69.5, with Loch Raven finishing third with 61 points.

Carver A&T was fourth with 59 points, followed by Eastern Tech with 56.6. Chesapeake placed eighth overall with 36.5 points, while Kenwood was 12 th with seven points.

Ryan Weeks led the Maverick boys, winning the 800 meters (2:00.99) and the 1,600 meters (4:46.48).

Franco Maxey won the 100-meter dash in 10.93, while Keith Chatmon took second in the 110 hurdles (14.87) and fifth in the 300 hurdles (43.87).

Micah Frempong took fourth in the 800 meters in 2:15.38.

The 1,600-meter relay team of Maxey, David Oluwajana, Darius Adams and Micah Freleong took first place with a time of 3:44.34.

In the field events, Ryan Strait took third in the shotput (43-1), while Zachary Lang was fifth in both the shotput (37-9) and discus (96-1).

For Chesapeake, Maurice Brown won the high jump with a height of 5-4, and the 800-meter relay team of Brown, Deondre Davis, Emanuel King and Hosey Epps took fifth in 1:39.5.

Duran Miller finished third in the discus for Kenwood with a distance of 114-8.5, and the 1,600-meter relay team of Fred-Morgan Iheanacho, Davonte Knight, Ayodeji Omomo and Christopher Smith took third in 4:01.39.

Devonte Wilson was fifth in the long jump (17-9), while Darius Riley was sixth in the 200 meters (22.98) and Omomo was sixth in the 400 meters (56.61).

In the girls meet, Makayla Davis of Chesapeake swept the shotput (34-6) and the discus (89-11.5), while Atinuke Fakunie took third in both the 100 (12.65) and 200 meters (26.47) for the Bayhawks.

The 800 relay team of Fakunie, Renell Cooper, Purity Nyaga and Jalin Frazier finished fourth in 1:56.29, and Zhanya Jones was sixth in the high jump (4-2).

Eastern Tech’s fifth-place finish was powered by Chelsea Umezurike, who won the 400-meter dash in 1:00.23, took second in the shotput (32-7), fourth in the 100 hurdles (17.0) and sixth in the 200 meters (27.14).

The Mavericks also won the 3,200-meter relay in 12:04.04, took second in the 1,600 relay in 4:52.64 and third in the 800 relay in 1:53.31.

Autumn Burgess took fourth in the 200 meters (26.57) and sixth in the long jump (13-11.5), while Lynelle Martin was fourth in the long jump (14-6.5) and Reese Kropp was sixth in the 800 meters (2:49.56).

For the Kenwood girls, Joyce Kemno was third in the long jump (15-3) and Satara Garcia was sixth in the shotput (25-2).
