The Kenwood boys lacrosse team defeated two southeast county rivals over the past week to raise its record tp 3-2.
The Bluebirds defeated visiting Patapsco 14-4 on April 3, ad traveled to Dundalk on Monday for an11-3 win.
Both games were close in the first half, with Kenwood pulling away in the second half while giving up one goal.
Against Patapsco, Kenwood bolted to a 4-0 lead, only to see the Patriots close to within 5-3 by the end of the first quarter.
After the flurry of goals in the first quarter, the second quarter almost passed scoreless until a goal by Aaron Johnson with 41 seconds left in the half gave the Bluebirds a 6-3 halftime lead.
Kenwood outscored Patapsco 8-1 in the second half, giving up just one goal over the last three quarters.
Daylon Duncan led Kenwood with six goals. Jonny Kikas scored four goals and Johnson scored three goals.
Jacob Abell finished with 10 saves.
Against Dundalk, Kenwood led 2-1 after te first quarter and 5-2 at halftime before outscoring the Owls 6-1 in the second half.
Isaiah Jones led the Bluebirds with three goals, while Jonathan Curtis and Johnson each scored two goals.
The two wins lifted Kenwood’s record to 3-2. The Bluebirds also defeated visiting Western Tech 9-8 on Marvh 27, while the losses were to Sparrows Point in the season opener, 12-0, and to visiting Oakland Mills on April 1, 9-6.
Chesapeake (3-0) remained unbeaten with a 13-2 win over Milford Mill on Friday.
The Bluebirds are scheduled to host the Bayhawks on Friday at 5:15.
Eastern Tech (1-3) lost to visiting Catonsville on Friday 8-3.
The Mavericks will host Patterson Mill on Friday at CCBC Essex.
In girls lacrosse, Eastern Tech defeated Lansdowne 17-1 on April 3 to stay unbeaten at 3-0.
The Mavericks host Joppatowne on Friday at Eastern Regional Park.
