On behalf of the entire Avenue News team, I want to wish you the merriest holiday season filled with joy, love and peace—three things I think we all need more of this year.

I truly believe we can all still have a great holiday season despite what this year has thrown at us, and I hope this holiday guide will not only show you how our community is still spreading holiday cheer, but will inspire you to fill your own homes with the love and peace you and your loved ones need.

People throughout our community are absolutely being resilient this year when it comes to ensuring we can participate in holiday traditions in a safe, “COVID-19 approved” way.

Yes, there will still be an Essex tree lighting. Yes, there will still be train gardens. And, yes there still will be a Middle River lighted boat parade! You can read all about how these events are being done in a way that will ensure the health and safety of everyone who attends in this holiday guide.

Plus, we have some awesome holiday recipes that we think will be great additions to your table this year as you celebrate with your loved ones. I mean, just because you may have fewer people at your holiday celebrations doesn’t mean you can’t have delicious food—right!?!

Again, I wish you all the happiest holidays and thank you for supporting your local news paper!
