County offices and libraries will be closed next Monday, in observance of Columbus Day.

The name Columbus Day has a complicated and somewhat storied history. Many cities and counties have voted to re-name the day in remembrance of native peoples in the Americas. Some call it Indigenous Peoples Day. Numerous cultures existed throughout North America centuries before Columbus arrived and European colonization largely decimated these peoples.

County buildings and libraries will re-open on Tuesday, October 15.
