Brooke Bognanni

BALTIMORE COUNTY — THE Community College of Baltimore County is pleased to announce that Brooke Bognanni, MFA, was appointed Dean of the School of Writing, Literacy and Languages on July 1, 2020.

The School is comprised of the English, ESOL, Academic Literacy and World Languages disciplines.

Bognanni, who has been at CCBC for 20 years, was most recently the department chair of English. She started as an adjunct at the Essex campus and later became a full professor.

One of the first graduates of the CCBC President’s Leadership Academy, she was also a member of the College Senate and a co-founder of the Creative Writing program at CCBC.

In addition, Bognanni has served as guest lecturer at Loyola College (now University), where she was a graduate. A member of the Association of Writers & Writing Programs and of the Academy of American Poets, she was named Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers and earned recognition as Loyola’s Most Influential Mentor for the ALANA Scholar’s Society for multicultural students.

Her book, “Morning Glories & Other Poems,” was published by Red Hen Press Los Angeles, and her poetry has appeared in journals such as the “Los Angeles Review” and the international “Ashvamegh.” Bognanni was also a featured writer for poetry and nonfiction in the acclaimed journal, “Italian Americana.”
