BALTIMORE COUNTY — All veterans have the opportunity to adopt a shelter dog or cat for free this Veterans Day through Baltimore County Animal Services.

Kevin Usilton, Cheif of Animal Services, said shelter volunteers are available to help match up each veteran with an animal.

“Our volunteers are trained to know the personalities of each animal and which ones would be best for certain people,” Usilton said.

Usilton said the department wanted to provide veterans with this offer because animals have the ability to help people who experience PTSD, anxiety and mobility issues—all complications many veterans experience.

It costs $20 dollars to spay and nutter a dog or cat and ferrel cats are spayed and neutered for free.

Adoption hours are Monday through Friday from 12:00 p.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 12:00 p.m. to 5 p.m.Baltimore County Animal Services is located at 13800 Manor Road in Baldwin, Maryland.
