Join us as we welcome ocean conservationist and marine policy advocate Wendy Benchley as part of the Marjorie Lynn Bank Lecture Series.

Wendy and her late husband, Peter Benchley, author of “Jaws,” were partners in life and in diving for more than 40 years. Wendy will share fascinating, firsthand stories of their “Jaws” saga and the ocean adventures that followed to protect sharks and safeguard our seas.

Wendy and Peter traveled for decades on global expeditions learning about sharks from scientists and marine experts and worked diligently to expand public awareness for ocean conservation. To honor Peter’s legacy, Wendy co-founded the Peter Benchley Ocean Awards. She is currently working with organizations to reduce demand for shark fin soup, create well enforced marine protected areas, and push for action to protect the high seas, stop illegal fishing and address the plastic pollution crisis. She previously served as a councilwoman in her home state of New Jersey.
