MIDDLE RIVER — Deshawn Murdock, 28, of Middle River, faces 14 criminal charges including possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute and possession of a stolen firearm. He was arrested and transported to the Baltimore County Detention Center on Sept. 2, according to a press release.
The charges stem from an incident that occurred shortly after midnight on Aug. 20, when Maryland Transportation Authority Police stopped a dark blue Nissan Maxima for drifting across lanes of travel on northbound I-95 near Exit 67. As the officer approached, the vehicle fled from the scene.
MDTA police officers responded to to the address of the registered owner of the vehicle, and while at the address, officers located the vehicle and observed a male subject exit the vehicle and put a backpack in a trash bin. When approached by officers, the suspect fled on foot.
Officers seized the backpack and discovered a loaded handgun and bags containing suspected crack cocaine and marijuana. During an investigation, officers learned he firearm had been reported stolen by the Hampshire County (W. Va.) Sheriff’s Office.
Officers executed a search warrant in an investigation of Murdock’s residence and seized additional firearms, drugs and ammunition.
