MIDDLE RIVER — Two people were injured after their car crashed into a Middle River house and caused it to catch on fire, the Baltimore County Fire Department tweeted.

Fire units were dispatched at 8:45 a.m. to the 900 block of Ramble Run Road, and first-arriving crews found heavy fire that had ignited the first and second floors of the home, according to a press release. An initial assessment by crews also found that the fire was likely caused by the car’s battery exploding; police continue to investigate this.

No one was in the house at the time of the fire, a department official said, though the occupants of the vehicle were taken to the hospital, one as a priority 2 patient and the other as priority 3.

The home also suffered significant structural damage.
