I’m proud to report that — thanks to the hard work and meticulous planning of my leadership team and hundreds of employees — my agency finished processing 98 percent of RELIEF Act stimulus payments to eligible recipients.

One week after the bill’s passage and just four days after the Governor signed the RELIEF Act into law, more than 266,000 payments have posted in eligible Marylanders’ bank accounts and more than 148,000 checks have been mailed.

Over the last four days, we received more than 14,000 phone calls to our dedicated RELIEF Act stimulus hotline, with an average wait time of under one minute. We responded to 4,400 e-mails and 700 messages on social media, and more than 450,000 Marylanders visited the stimulus portal we created on our agency website.

This herculean, all-hands-on-deck effort was focused squarely on getting these payments in the pockets of struggling Marylanders as quickly as possible. At a time when people have lost trust in government, the men and women of the Comptroller’s Office were steadfastly committed to delivering leadership, results, and customer service that Marylanders expect and deserve from their government.
